Lake To Be Lowered in LATE October
Current plans are for the lake level to be lowered FOUR FEET beginning in the third week of October. Concrete repairs on the dam spillway walls and emergency spillway will be done, as well as, sealing spillway joints and replacement of hydraulic lines that help to run the dam gate. Other work around the lake will be done at that time to take advantage of the low water levels.

Lakefront members are advised to make their dock and lift removal plans early and also to plan for any repairs or clean-up they would like to do in front of their lot.

Low water will probably last from 6 to 8 weeks, depending on river flows.

Contractor Seal Coating Complete
A total of 15 miles of chip seal surface work was placed on streets by contractors on both sides of the lake in June. The annual surfacing is paid for by the road assessment fund, which also goes toward road rock and material repairs.

Lift Station Completed
The Sunset Ridge lift station has been completed. The lift station handles sewage from 47 owners on the east side of the main basin. The new system provides much better capacity and reliability for users. The new above-ground pumps are safer and easier to maintain and have improved capacity. The 47 member/users will be paying for the improvement through increased sewer fees.

Rip Rap Notices
Members having varying levels of problems with their rip-rap on the shoreline have been contacted by the LPA to make improvements. Many older rip-rap jobs did not have the erosion control fabric backing that the new specifications call for. These jobs tend to deteriorate more rapidly than those without. Rip-Rap rules are for the long-term benefit of the lake concerning erosion and the continued enhancement of property value by proper maintenance. Rip rap is required where shoreline erosion takes place. Several LPA owned properties are also being improved.

Dry Conditions
Although dry conditions have not reached a serious nature yet, members are cautioned about open burning of natural materials. Burning should only be of materials that grow on your site and fires should only be set when they can be monitored continuously.
Burning of trash, construction materials, and garbage is prohibited by state and county regulations.

Watering Tips
Members watering their yards using pumps from the lake are permitted to do so. Members using LPA Water Company water will find their bills elevated considerably.
Turf professionals recommend watering be done regularly if possible. However, water cost is high. Lawns can be kept alive in extended drought periods by occasional light waterings of around a ¼ inch of water. This will not keep the yard green but will help the dormant grass plants stay alive and send out new runners as soon as water is available.
This method will save money and keep the grass alive.

Remember to not waste whatever water you use for watering your yard.
