Upper Basin will be open for speed boats this year
The LPA Board has officially opened the upper basin to speed boating this year. The area will have the same boating rules as the rest of the lake. A water ski course will be located in the southeast corner of the basin. The upper basin consists of the area between the upper end of the narrows and buoys for the debris containment boom.
LPA Board scheduling General Manager interviews
The LPA Board will be interviewing selected candidates for the general manager position soon. Hopefully a candidate will have been selected by the first of May.
Lake Gradually Rising
As of March 23, the lake is just over 13 inches below normal pool elevation and is gradually rising. Any significant rains should help the level be reached sooner.
Annual Meeting April 23
Watch for your membership ballot and annual meeting information coming around April 8-13. Four candidates are running for two open board positions. Mike Dunn, board secretary is seeking a second three-year term. Courtney Allen, Therese Davis, and Ron Morden are seeking the open position of Ron Frisbie, board vice-president, who is not eligible to run for another term.
Dredging will begin in April
Burchfield Cove will probably be the starting place for dredging starting some time in early April. The upper portions of Burchfield Cove are due for a cleaning. The upper portions of Jones Cove, Lodge Cove, Gibson Cove and part of the upper narrows will be dredged this year.
Silt Storage Structure Project in Progress
The County Basin, a silt retention structure that should provide about 20 years of silt storage for Lake Panorama, is under way. Many trees have been removed, the outlet channel has been excavated, the "keyway" portion of the main dam is being constructed. Contractors have until June 30, 2006 to complete the massive project.
