Long Range Planning
The Long Range Planning Committee is meeting and discussing priorities for the future of Lake Panorama. They will be covering possible projects, programs and structural changes that might improve and enhance the LPA. Max Gilliland and Lee Weber are Co-Chairs.
Green Water
An algal bloom has occurred, somewhat similar to last year.
As always, people should avoid ingesting water from the lake and members should attempt to keep pets from drinking water in areas where there is floating "scum." Some algae may produce toxins that can irritate the skin or in spray form (as in skiing/ tubing) can irritate the nose and throat. Avoid scummy areas while boating or pulling people behind boats. Showering and cleaning up after being in the water is always a good idea anyway, even when the water is quite clear.
Appeals Process
Under a new policy to protect the rights of members and offer an appeal process, the LPA Board has appointed an appeals committee that will be the final arbiter when a member feels that they have been improperly fined or penalized. The committee will hear testimony and make their recommendation regarding the fine or penalty. All committee members are volunteers.
The Rules and Regulations book under “Members right to Hearing” will read as follows: When any member’s rights or privileges have been revoked or fines have been assessed as provided in this section, the member involved has the right to a hearing before an Appeals Committee. Request for a hearing must be in writing, not more than 10 days following notification of revocation or fine. Minors must be accompanied by one or both of their parents, or by a legal guardian, to the hearing.
General Manager Position Still Open
The LPA Board is still seeking candidates for the position of General Manager. Roger Dunlop is acting general manager.
Rules Reminder--Pools
Swimming pools require a building permit. Pools are defined as bodies of water 2 or more feet deep intended for human immersion. Pools less than 1 foot deep or less than 64 square feet will be considered wading pools and are not covered by the regulations. Pools will require fencing for safety, can only be located on the same areas of the lots that building is restricted to, and the water level must not be above the adjacent grade. (this means above ground pools are no longer allowed) This is a quick rule summary. Contact the office for official specifications.
Golf Course Lots for Sale
The LPA Board has authorized posting of 13 LPA owned lots along the Lake Panorama National Golf Course. The lots have been assigned prices, which can be obtained from the LPA office. Prices are firm.
