Board Election Results
The winners from the 2007 Annual Meeting election for three board positions are John McDermott, Susan J. Thompson and Duane Spicer. Other candidates were Eric Chrystal, Dave Goss, Larry Rains, and Randall Walz.
       The election was for a term of three years. McDermott will be serving his second term.
       
       A total of 698 ballots were counted with only one spoiled ballot. Ironically, at least four ballots were turned in too late to be considered.
       
       The new board members will have their first meeting

By-Law Vote Results
Two of the three By-Law proposals were approved at the Annual Meeting voting on May 5.
       
       Members approved a proposal to allow directors to participate and vote in board meetings via conference calls or other electronic means by a vote of 367 to 285.
       
       They also approved a measure that provides for Association attorney fees incurred in litigation to be paid for by an individual member who loses a suit filed against the Association by a vote of 414 to 233.
       
       A third measure, one that would have eliminated the requirement for a signed ballot was defeated by a single vote --324 to 323.
       
       

River Flows reach high levels
Rains over the May 5-6 weekend brought new high flows to the Middle Raccoon River. Saturated soil conditions throughout western Iowa provoke high runoff during each rain event. Use Caution when boating and watch our for debris and be aware of high current velocity.

Office open Saturdays --- 9 a.m. to Noon
The LPA office will be open Saturdays from May 12 until June 30 from 9 a.m. to noon.
       
       Boats can be registered by mailing, faxing, or e-mailing copies of current boat registrations and sending checks or phoning in credit card information if you can't make it to the office.

Independence Day Fireworks
Joe Scheiring has announced that the Fireworks will be held at Shady Beach on Saturday July 7. Donations for the display can be sent to Joe in care of P.O. Box 605, 6874 Panorama Drive, Panora, Iowa, 50216

56,000 cubic yards
56,000 cubic yards of silt were removed from the lake by the dredge HORIZON during April.
