Some minor changes and additions for the building codes make the March 23, 2016, edition the most current. The new codes have added significant penalties to failure to obtain permits for land disturbing and building projects.
Significant fines will be issued for building and land disturbing projects that start without a permit.
Here is a summary of typically significant code items:
1. Building permit fees for homes are a standardized at $400. (other fees apply)
2. All building permits not otherwise specified cost $35, except garages which are $100.
3. Restrictions on the amount a fence can enclose is 10% of the area of the developed lot(s).
4. Permits requiring inspections will now have deposits based on the project to insure inspections are done.
